  1. Hi, I’ve been following your tutorials and am wondering how long you leave the second layer of plaster to dry before removing it from the clay?
Also, do you have any tips on how to remove the plaster if I want to use my mold again?
    Thanks, Lisa

    1. Hi Lisa,
The second layer can be removed from the clay usually within 30 to 40 minutes…sometimes sooner if you live in a hot climate and it dries quickly. If you spray your clay mold with the non-stick cooking spray, the plaster wrap should come off fairly easily and you can reuse the mold (sometimes the clay just needs a minor touch up here and there). Take something like a butter knife and flip the whole mold upside down and gently work around the edges with the knife to create some air pockets, and then most times you should be able to lift off the plaster wrap from the clay. If you have areas of the clay (like ears) that are inside pockets of the plaster wrap, then you may have to destroy that part of your mold getting it out of the plaster. That’s why I often do pieces like the ears separately and then attach them later. Good luck!

    1. Hi Rose,
Congratulations on completing your mask! I don’t have any specific tutorials on painting them…I just kind of go with the flow . With the masks, I often start off with darker colors as the base and then apply lighter colors on top (so that the darker colors will show through a bit). Good luck and be sure to post some pictures of your masks!
